This past weekend we were at the Jansen's cabin at McDonald Lake up by Detroit Lakes, MN. The guys wanted to check out the ice fishing and Damon, Kim, Alex and Sophie haven't met Maddy yet. On Saturday morning Dale, Darold and Nathan bundled up, braving the 6 below weather and hit the ice.

While the guys were out, Nathan looked out the window of the ice house and thought he saw a big dog. But that wasn't quite right, and after a closer look discovered it was a bald eagle.
Here are the two "resident eagles" hanging out in the ice house!
Darold showing the world his "trophy" fish or praising the fish gods, not really sure which...
Dale using the ice auger for the 1st time. Dale enjoyed using the auger and I think we have another strike master customer. We should get commission.
Our catch frozen solid.
Damon, Alex and Sophie with their catch.
Sophie checking out the fish hole - here fishy fishy fishy fishy...
The guys braving the cold to catch the big one.
After a long day of being on the lake, it's Jansen tradition to play a few hands of cribbage. Alex is quite the little player and managed to more than skunk Darold and Nathan with Damon as a partner.
We also celebrated Valentine's Day with Nana and Gramps. Here are a few pictures from the nice gifts Maddy got.
Maddy also had such a fun time with Sophie and Alex. Alex read quite a few times to her and Sophie gave such nice hugs and played so well with Maddy.
Thanks Jansen's for a very nice time! Hope we get to do it again sometime!
